Choosing your targeted keywords is a very important step in the SEO process of your website. Keywords are chosen carefully based on your search results competition and should be researched before you start a website.
What is a keyword?
Here is an example of a keyword : Let’s say you want to start a website about natural ways to lose weight. A targeted keyword for this site could be “natural weight loss” or “natural weight loss tips”. A keyword or “keywords” can be either a single word or multiple words depending on which you are wanting to target and rank your site upon.
How to choose the right keyword(s)
The main focus when choosing the correct keyword for your website is to find the most targeted keyword(s) that have a decent amount of monthly searches and have the lowest competition. Generally when choosing a keyword, you want to aim for monthly search results of about 20,000 or less so that it is more targeted and you have less competition. Unless you are feeling risky and want to try to take on millions of competitors and try to outrank highly searched keywords, then you can go for something that is more popular.
When I am trying to find keywords for my websites, I will use the Google Adwords Keyword Tool which allows you to input multiple keywords and view their competition and monthly search results. You can sort your results by the lowest competition so that you can narrow down your choices. Choose 1 – 5 keywords from the list and use those for your website.
When you are creating new content for your website, make sure that you include your targeted keywords.
Once you have a well built site and do other SEO work, you should start ranking higher in search engines for your chosen keyword(s). You can check your rank for Google, Yahoo, and MSN by using the Rank Checker Tool. This is a very helpful tool when it comes to checking your rank in search results.

Not only is Flippa a great place to buy websites and make money through monthly income but it is also a great place to SELL your own websites. This may be more time consuming but you can earn a larger amount of money for the work you put into your websites.
Let’s say you’ve created a website 6 months ago, you didn’t invest much money into it, and it is earning a steady $500 per month. The golden rule of flipping websites states that you should be able to sell your website at almost 10 times the amount of your monthly earnings. So in simple math, $500 per month x 10 = $5,000 total value! That is a great amount of money, especially if your website is fairly new and you didn’t invest much into it.
Now it is not easy to make a website that earns $500 per month or more quickly, but with some time and hard work it can be done. Even if you were able to create 5 websites a year and flip them for a profit, you could put a huge amount of extra money into your bank account.

In the past I have neglected Craigslist for advertising websites and products but recently I have found that it can be very helpful and useful for marketing. I have used it for a few different websites that I am promoting and the results have been great. I will go into detail further into this post.
My Goals Were Simple : Place ads, gain traffic, earn a profit, and do it all within a short amount of time.
It seemed simple but I looked into it and dug a little deeper so that I could strategically place my ads and receive more positive results. So let me explain what I did with my website and how I promoted it on Craigslist.
Type Of Website : Affiliate product & review website.
Steps For Advertising :
- Researched my niche through Google and found the “Top 10″ locations where my products were being used and where the niche was most popular. I stuck with locations only in the United States but depending on your target audience, the locations may differ.
- Saved these top locations to Notepad on my computer so that I would have them for future reference.
- Went to Craigslist and browsed to the first location on my top 10 list.
- Created an ad for my website that did not seem like spam and was interesting, catchy, and straight to the point.
- Placed the ad in the “For Sale” section and into the correct sub-category.
- Went back to the main page and browsed to my next location on my top 10 list.
- Placed another ad promoting the same website.
- Repeated until I posted 1 ad in each location from my list.
- Waited and watched traffic/sales go up.
Tips
- Do NOT place ads on Craigslist that look like spam, such as “Want To Get Rich? Click here and see how!”. Be creative and make the ad seem professional and personal so that ir will not be flagged and removed.
- Create a few different ads for the same website you are trying to promote and rotate them. Try to create 3 or 4 variations of your ad and use them randomly throughout the location postings.
- Make sure your title is attractive and catchy. This will make sure that people view your ad and if they are interested, they will click through to your website.
- Trial and error. If your ads are not converting well, try creating a new ad or place the existing one in a new category.
- Keep track of your traffic and monitor how many visitors are coming from Craigslist. This will be helpful when you make changes to your ads and would like to see if they have a positive impact.
- Remember that you can renew your ads so that you can easily “bump” your ad back to the top of the page for more exposure. Only do this after about 2 weeks so that you are not constantly renewing posts.
- Targeting bigger cities will most likely create more traffic.
The few things that I have mentioned above helped me generate some decent numbers for traffic and actual sales. I only spent roughly 1 – 2 hours doing Craigslist marketing for 1 website and I received an increase of 200 – 300 visitors per day plus sales from some of those customers.
Craigslist may not be the best way to go for some people but it sure has helped me and a few of my websites. So if you are looking for new ways to make money and promote your website or product, try the method I have talked about and see if it helps you out too.

- Be passionate and hard working. It all pays off in the end.

I think the biggest thing in creating an online business is the motivation and time it takes to build it from the ground up. If you do not have the time, then maybe it isn’t for you. Money and family can be a huge motivation for some people because not only can you create a second (or a main) income but you can also work at home and spend more time with your family. These are 5 simple reasons that will tell you if you are not the right type of person for blogging.
- You are lazy and unmotivated. If you possess these two things then you definitely will not fall into the category of a blogger because you need to be motivated to write new posts for your blog and you must be productive. Creating a successful blog requires motivation because without it, you will most likely not be able to create new content.
- You are negative about life and the things you do. For me personally blogging requires positivity because it allows myself to reach out to others and share my knowledge in a positive and inspiring manner. If you are negative and do not show any upside to your writing, then most people will just exit your website.
- You lack passion. This kind of falls along the same lines of positivity except passion means that you care about your writing and what you produce on your blog. Passion shows your readers that you care and are into your topic very much, so it creates a more interesting and realistic experience.
- You give up easily. If you are the type of person to fall down once but refuse to get back up, then blogging is also not for you. Blogging requires a lot of time and patience. Within the time that you start to blog, you will most likely fail a few times and will have to make changes in order to create success. So if you are not a hard worker and do not want to put your time and dedication into a blog, then it is not for you. Remember that a successful blog is not created overnight and it even takes the greatest blogs some time to gain popularity.
- You think it is just about the money. If you have the mindset of JUST wanting money from your blog, then blogging is not for you because you need to have priorities set right in order to run a successful blog. I am not saying money is not a motivation for blogging but it should not be your ONLY focus when creating a blog. If you focus just on the money, then you may skip over other important things such as creating high quality content. Remember that you must always please your visitors first because without them, your blog would not be successful.
